Chaka Khan's Upcoming Musical To Feature Robert Palmer!
A new musical based on the life and career of R&B diva Chaka Khan will play in London next year.
Titled I'm Every Woman: The Musical, the show will celebrate Khan's rise to fame - from her civil rights activism in the Black Panther Party to her time as the lead singer of funk band Rufus and solo superstardom.
It will feature some of her greatest hits, such as Tell Me Something Good, I'm Every Woman, Ain't Nobody, I Feel For You and Steve Winwood's Higher Love.
The musical promises to be "a journey of music, love and betrayal." Interestingly, its book includes an array of Chaka's famous friends like Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Prince and... Robert Palmer!
In 1985, Palmer first recorded Addicted To Love (a future US#1 hit) as a duet with Khan but her record company would not allow it to be released. In 1997, Robert and Chaka finally performed together at London's Wembley Stadium for the Songs & Visions concert, covering the Rolling Stones' Satisfaction in front of 70,000 people.
Backed by Khan herself, I'm Every Woman: The Musical is produced by Adrian Grant who previously created the hit West End stage show Thriller Live. "I'm thrilled to be producing a theatrical stage musical about the life of Chaka Khan," said Grant. "She has been an icon across many genres and decades, but I grew up in the '80s, and songs such as 'Ain't Nobody' and 'I Feel For You' created an everlasting cultural imprint that will form a part of this show, with electric choregraphy and vocals that blow the room off!"
Auditions are set for June 2025, with casting announcements to follow.
Many of you know that my life has always influenced my music - but you may not know the full story. I've lived a rich, beautiful, and sometimes difficult life, and now those experiences will come alive on stage in I’m Every Woman: The Musical. It’s the greatest honour to have my journey and work celebrated in this way. London holds a special place in my heart, and I can't wait to share this moment with the fans who have sung, danced, and stood by me through it all. I’ve always wanted to inspire joy, truth, and love - and I know this musical will be filled with all of that and more. This is for you!
I'm Every Woman: The Musical will play at the Peacock Theatre in London, from 5 to 28 March 2026.
