11.06.25: Brian Wilson, génie de la musique pop, leader et principal compositeur des Beach Boys, est mort à l'âge de 82 ans. God Only Knows, la magnifique ballade aux structures harmoniques sophistiquées extraite de leur album Pet Sounds, figurait parmi les chansons préférées de Robert Palmer, comme le chanteur le confiait au magazine MOJO en 1999 et à nouveau quelques mois avant sa mort / Pop music genius Brian Wilson, leader and chief songwriter of The Beach Boys, has died at the age of 82. God Only Knows, the gorgeous ballad with sophisticated harmonic structures taken from their album Pet Sounds, was among Robert Palmer's favourite songs, as the singer told MOJO Magazine in 1999 and again only a few months before his death.

11.06.2025: Selon Benmont Tench, claviériste et membre fondateur de Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, le producteur Rick Rubin a tenté de convaincre la légende de la Country Johnny Cash de faire une reprise de Robert Palmer pour son album American IV: The Man Comes Around, sorti en 2002. "Rick voulait enregistrer Addicted To Love de Robert Palmer avec Johnny," a déclaré Tench au magazine Vulture lors d'une récente interview. "Rien à voir avec la version pop originale, bien sûr: c'était dans le style de ses disques American. Pourtant, je me souviens avoir pensé: "C'est ridicule." On a essayé et il était très sincère dans son interprétation - il l'a bien chantée. "Not anything like the original pop version, of course: it was in the style of those American records. Still, I remember thinking, 'This is ridiculous.' We gave it a good shot, and he was very sincere about singing it - he sang it well. But it was what you would expect if you know the song, 'Might as well face it, you're addicted to love.' Johnny finally said, 'This isn't working.' Nobody was bummed or embarrassed. We tried it, but it didn't work, so let's try something else."

13.05.2025: Une nouvelle comédie musicale retraçant la vie de la diva du R&B Chaka Khan se jouera l'année prochaine à Londres. I'm Every Woman: The Musical reprendra les chansons de Khan en solo et du temps de Rufus, tandis que les personnages du spectacle incluront ses amis célèbres Stevie Wonder, Prince et... Robert Palmer! En 1985, Palmer avait initialement enregistré Addicted To Love en duo avec Khan mais la maison de disques de cette dernière n'en avait pas autorisé la sortie.
